The Studentenwerke in Saxony receive annual subsidies from the state for ongoing operations and investments. However, according to the plans for the 2025/2026 double budget, these operating grants are not sufficient. The funds for investments are even being cut almost completely.
The consequences for students are fatal.
Take to the streets with us on May 7 from 12 noon in Dresden!

Semester fees, prices, rents, cuts
What does this mean for me?
If there is not enough financial support from the Free State of Saxony, the lack of funds for the Studierendenwerke threatens to be passed on to the students.
This will result in a drastic increase in semester fees, higher prices in the canteens, rising dormitory rents and even cuts to services such as counseling and cafeterias.

Canteens, Student Halls and …?
What does a Studierendenwerk actually do?
Most people are familiar with the canteens, cafeterias and student halls as facilities of the Studierendenwerk. However, there are numerous other services that are offered to students free of charge and that make life at university easier.

Bi-annual budget 2025/2026
How are the Studierendenwerke financed?
We’ve already heard about semester fees and subsidies from the state. But how big are their shares? And what influence do we still have on the proposed budget?
